    Default 788c Interlink issue

Today we were setting up my 898 and my 788 to the Interlink box. I had to upgrade my version on the 788C to the 5.400. We got both units working with the Interlink then all of a sudden the 788 stopped working. When I say it stopped working, I mean it couldn't be turned on/off, no buttons would work and the only indication of it even having power was the model screen coming up. We hooked it to a computer and all that would come up was some sort of diagnostic screen. 2 questions: anybody have any idea what might have happened? and since the 788 is still less than 1 year old, do I have to send a service fee to Humminbird when I ship it back to them? I looked their site over and didn't find info about warranty service having fees attached.

I contacted them by e-mail ( haven't heard back and it was too late to call) but figure it is going to have to go back to them anyway so I'm boxing it up and shipping it out tomorrow.

    mrdux,
No, if the unit is less than a year old (to you) than there should be no fee as it is still under the 1 year warranty period (the exception would be if it was physical damage). Make sure and send in a copy of your receipt along with it so that there is no question though.

Not sure what happened other than it lost its mind…

If you sent the e-mail on Friday night than I doubt that they will reply for a few days yet as no one in that department works on the weekend. They will also be busy on the phones all day long today so probably won’t get to your e-mail until tomorrow at the earliest. You can try calling them but may be on hold as Mondays are their busiest day of the week. I would call first thing Tuesday morning (8:01 am Central time) and set it all up with them than.

Thanks for the reply Greg. Apparently you guys got the unit and got it fixed. I got an e-mail today where it had been shipped back. I had been a Lowrance man for over 30 years and this is the 1st Humminbird I have owned since my late-great Super 60! A buddy had told me how good you guys were on Customer Service so I took the leap and got the 788 last year and the 898 recently. Looks like I made a good choice. Thanks!!!
