I've seen fish id work on HB 700, 800 and 900 series units. I've also seen it work on a Low HDS10.

thanks of the comments. yes, i do know that fish symbol settings relate only to the sonar when activated and seen only on the sonar screen. yes i realize that structure scan will show almost the real fish in a white manner. question is still on the contrast settings---i can make the finder show more fish just by adjusting the contrast---or is it contrast? i will be talking with lowrance today to try to work this out. while catching all my fish last night with my eagle on my trolling motor---the bad boy on the dash (lowrance) was blank in both structure scan down and sonar---------looking for answers today.
how many of you have actually turned on the fish symbol to see if it works in sonar mode? i am not even getting the arches---and then to top it off---on #6 palette in structure scan, my bottom of the lake is lighter than the water----------regardless of contrast--------any ideas on that?
i'm not even getting the fish below beep ---------but catching fish anyway---------thank god! 17 big ones last night by myself ( husband hates mosquitos) lol
be fishing tonight----will post comments by lowrace later afterwards
lowrance says new update in a week or so to take care of the water level showing 1 foot offset or so with no keel offset marked.

I'm not a statistician, but truly believe the odds of one person getting 3 units that are suffering infant mortality to be extremely rare.
Might I suggest letting a professional do your installation. While you are at it, I would find someone in your area that have a SI unit and spend an hour or two on the water with them.

Contrast and other settings aren't going to be true for every body of water. The best thing you can do is take some time to play with the settings and fine what works bewst for you.
Might be nice if you could post screen shots of what you are seeing. That could help.
Crappiegirl, Sure wish you would have started another thread on your Lowrance purchase. You have a thread 10 pages long with a title about throwing an H/B in the lake. If your problems and corrections with the Lowrance are any indication that the H/B's could have been similar, maybe you didn't give it a fair chance. I hope you have realized that trying to trouble shoot electronics over the phone with a tech can be extremely difficult for both parties. As others have said, your best bet is to find someone local who can give you some hands on experience. Shellback, a loyal H/B customer.
Shellback, Understanding that it does bother you to have any negative comments about HB posted on the web, this did start off as HB then went to Low, but it she hasn't bashed either brand. This is kind of superficial don't you think, being worried about page count vs. title?
This is nothing compared to the donut thread.
Shellback, ur mad at me. Sorry

My guess is some of the 2 amp fuses were blown during the rewiring process, or you didn't have your LSS-1 unit switched and it stayed on, running down the battery. I'm tempted to quote Ron White, but I'll wish the best of luck finally getting things figured out.
Reaper, Where Fish come to Fry
i agree with you, crappie girl.these units do not do everything that there advertised to do. the problem is when people buy them and find that they dont do as advertised they dont say anything because they want to believe that they have a better unit than the other person that has a different name brand or there advertising that brand, witch is alot of whats happening here. if your wanting to use these units to fish with they will do a good job.all of this other stuff monitoring gas milege, radar, satalite radio, differant color pallets and so on is just stuff people use to brag and boast and to advertise. im going out today and i bet you that i catch my limit again on crappie.i wont see any donuts and i bet that my hummingbird will work and if i had a lowrance it would do the job to.P.S. you cant catch fish on the internet.you got to get on the water
