Another Interlink/Software Update Question

I think I saw in another post where someone was having Interlink problems with an 898 and a 997 connecting with the Interlink after updating the 898 to the new 5.210 software.

I have a 798 interlinked to my 997. Right now both have the 4.960 software and work fine together with the interlink.

I looked on my account on the HB website & there is a new 5.210 update for my 798 but not for my 997. I downloaded the software but am afraid to install it in the 798.

Anybody know if updating the 798 will screw up the connection?

Here's a post from Bass Boat Central addressing that very problem:

"maybe someone can help me i just updated my 898 to version 5.210 and now it will not link up to my 787c2 it says i need to update my 787 but it has 4.960 update in it. can i and should i go back to the last update on my 898 the web site dose not show any new updates for the 787 thanks"

I believe I'd hold off.

Another similar problem at the sideimaging website...

1197c si software not compatible with 1198c si

I believe it best to wait until this issue is resolved...

I have the 997 and 858. Still waiting to get the Interlink back from Humminbird after reprogramming. The beta software Humminbird sent me was 4.9xx and did not begin with a 5. I would hold off on the update until Humminbird can identify and correct the issue.

I don't know Terry, maybe you ought to go ahead and do it. Calling up Humminbird and ripping into them would help keep you warm.:D
