Sounds like a bad foot pedal to me. Do you know anyone that has one to try to verify that?

My trolling motor works better on left turns than it does on right turns. The left side of foot control will work no matter where you press down on it. The right side works as it should about 10% of the time you press it. Sometimes you have to press it 5 or 6 times for it to turn. Do I have problem with the foot control or problem with the servo motors that turn the unit? I do have a lot of experience with large scale remote control gas powered boats so I just don't know where to start with the trouble shooting. I do lightly blow debry out on foot control unit and do not want to start tearing into the footcontrol without maybe having some suggestions. This problem has been happening since it was new and I did buy extended warranty for unit but don't want to be without motor for long period. Has anyone else had this problem? Hope CP reads this and has suggestion for simple fix.

I had same problem. Crappiestalker gave me a couple of rubber pads and I screwed them in the foot pedal. I just mash the teets.Works good.

First time I've gotten a close look at the pedal you re-designed Tom. Way different that the earlier model. I can see where my big feet would hit the button next to the one I want. Some engineering they should've left alone. Had to replace my control once, not real durable with a fat guy stompin on em all the time.

Thanks, I put the rubber feet on mine when I first got it and it did help because by raising the touch point you don't have to be right on the money everytime you turn the unit. I guess I will remove the cover Monday and have a look see.
I made this replacement for my wife to use on the Jon boat. It works good.
I will make one for my big boat when my pedal quits. I know the aggravation you are experiencing.
You don't have to get this fancy with the wiring. You see I have the left/right buttons on one foot and on/off for the other. Speed and continuous are in the box and easy to reach.
It is about 50 bucks for the parts (minus Allan's yeller cables). Actually lots cheaper than a new foot control.

I had the same issue with my pedal. I took the springs off from the bottom and took the top housing off. When you do that you will see a block off white plastic that slides back and forth to make the connection to the Circuit board to make the motor turn. Mine had some bad grease on it that got dirt in it and would not let the slide move freely. I cleaned it all out and used some vaseline to re lube it and have not had a problem since then. I am guessing to make it turn to the right you have to really "stand on it" and hit high on the pedal to get it to eventually turn, or you can hold it down when it it working but have a delay.
