there is one thing you definitely want to do is get a thermal meter type like a laser and keep your Picture right at 325 to 335° if you do not have a thermal meter when you are heating your plastic run your microwave for about 20 seconds and then stir when you get it down to where it falls off of a metal stirring rod like water it is good enough but I advise you to get a thermal meter to check the temperature of your plastic it's well worth the money it will save you a lot of headaches and of course a lot of burnt plastic you are probably leaving your plastic too long at a time in a microwave only do it in short periods like 10 to 20 seconds once you get used to doing this you will have a good ideal work to set your microwave all microwaves are different after about a year you will get the hang of things.

lureworks pourasol very clear and no yellowing if you do your part. can i ask a question here wwhy are you using a microwave? is because of the amount of plastic you are using is smaller than 2 cups? if so do yourself a favor and get a hotplate and get to knoww your plastic before you try using a microwave each plastic goes thru certain stages and if your not entirely familiar with your plastic you wwill over cook it in a heartbeat. plus any thermometer will only register the surface of the plastic unless it is inside the plastic the hotter plastic in a microwave is alwways in the bottom half of the cup you might register 300-350 on surface but be 25-50 different on bottom of cup even after stirring.

Great info! I am about half way through 2 gal. Of Dels soft plastic. I will be in the market for more , it doesn't have to be soft in fact I'd rather have a med. is there any product or products you'd recommend. Also who 's is the best value? Thanks

I use the micro because I only shoot small amounts every now and again. I use a 6 inch temp probe that reaches the bottom of my measuring cup so I feel I am getting accurate temps. I am going to set my target temp 20 degrees lower and see if that helps. But even when the clear turns I still use it. Add color and shoot. Never let good plastic go to waste! Id Try another brand for clear. My CC yellows when i hold at temp for a while. I dont havr good luck microwaving lureworks plastic. Lots of bubbles when mic'd. Their soft formula wasnt so bad but its just too soft for my liking. The medium bubbled more and tje hard was even worse about it. You can spike it and get them to send you a sample to try for yourself.

[COLOR="#FF0000"]Warning if you're going to use a hot plate you better be on top of that you can burn your plastic very easily not to mention that using a hot aluminum pan could be very dangerous you're more apt to burn yourself so if you're going to use a hot plate be very very cautious . microwave is definitely the safest way to go you may To stir more when you are heating it . a few words about using a thermal meter you are probably right about reading surface temperature but it gives me a good ideal on where that plastic is I do not have any problem if I keep it 325 to 350° just make sure that you stir it well because the bottom like you say in the above may be a little cooler but I've had never never had any problems doing it this way and less you are going to stick a candy thermometer into your plastic would be the only way that you can tell when it is on the bottom using that type of to monitor be very cautious playing it on a cold surface these are just my opinions and I feel that the microwave is the safest I don't like people getting into using hot plastic and not knowing anything about it especially messing around with hot plates we've been into plastics going on over four years before this idea try a hot plate and burnt a lot of plastic and I did not like the fact that this was very messy so if you're going to use that hot plate again I'm warning you be very careful.
