One thing you might want to add to your boat, on the railing going fore and aft, is a few sticks of nerf-type pipe insulation laid end to end. This will make your boat quieter and prevent you banging your rod against the boat, telegraphing to the specks that you are above them. One application will usually last a couple of seasons. If it gets gimped up, the stuff is easy to replace and it is inexpensive.
