    Default Help with impeller replacement

I posted this in the main forum but wanted to make sure you local boys read this. I need a little assistance.

Can anyone here tell me how to replace the impeller on the ole' 25 Johnson/Tracker 2-stroke? Maybe you can point me to a website or blog that can assist.

I had it replaced last April by the "pro mechanic" at Brady Mountain (Lake Ouachita) and bless my soul if it didn't give up the ghost again...and he charged me a premium price, to boot.

I am mechanically oriented and have replaced them before in bigger Mercury engines but I don't quite know what to do with my brother's little 25.

Any help would surely be appreciated. I'm tired incompetent, money-grubbing mechanics. Thanks, so much, in advance. <><

I posted over in the main forum...I was serious though...if you wanted to bring it to Nashville to our ag shop I would sure help you out for a mountain dew...lol. I work real cheap. :D Seriously though would love to help another crappie.com member out if I could. I would look at getting the rebuild kit and not just the impellor if you went through one in one season. The only outboard I know of that needs one that often would be the old inline mercs...they didn't pump alot of volume and it takes ALOT to get to the top of that tall ol' girl. Yours should last alot longer than that.

I also don't think you would have ANY trouble at all with it if you can do a merc. If your going to keep the motor for a while I would REALLY recommend getting a manual...not seloc or haynes...I would get the original...you can pick one up pretty cheap from kencook.com they are the only way to go. Let us know if you need anything!
