    Default harris brake report

fishing was slow but still managed to catch 19 crappie and 1 bass on minnows. used minnows fished around 5 feet deep in 7 foot of water on the main lake and fished 2 feet deep in 3 foot of water in crappie cove. they have started lowering the lake so that is probably why fishing was a little slow

Thanks for the report, rieve. Sounds pretty good for a "slow day"...:D Thinking about giving Harris Brake a try this week, just wondering where exactly crappie cove is? Only thing I see on the map that looks like a true cove is just off the midsection of the lake on the eastern side. Is that it? And what ramp out there is best to use? Thanks for any info.

Ceb, I put in at Coffee creek landing. Crappie cove is on the south side of the lake, it is fairly small and several boats are usually in there. when you get their you will know it because brush is sticking up out of the water everywhere in the middle. If it is to crowded I would suggest fishing around some of the docks on that side of the lake as well. I caught my bigger fish around the docks in about 7-9 ft of water fishing about 5 ft deep but the numbers are not as good. i am not an expert on the lake because i have only been there a couple of times but i would not suggest fishing the docks close to the ramp because it is extremely shallow (3 foot) and i wasted most of my morning fishing there without a bite. by the way I went to the Arkansas River at pine Bluff Yesterday afternoon from 2 til 5 and caught around 20 with 6 keepers all over a pound and a quarter.

    Ceb,

I was over at Harris Brake Friday and Saturday but the wind was way to strong to try crappie fishing at least for me. White capping all day. We ran some lines both evenings for Catfish and caught 4 total for 17ibs. Filled almost a freezer bag worth of fillets. You can download a map for free of Harris Brake from Arkansas wildlife ? Arkansas outdoors ? Arkansas Game and Fish Commission It will show you the few boat lanes that are cut. Good luck.
