    I use the same set up as chris, & I'll tell you how I do mine. I use 10-12 foot poles with 10-12 lb line. I use a 1/2 oz egg sinker just above a swivel (like a carolina rig, but no beads) then I run a 12-18" leader off the other end of the swivel, and I use circle hooks (usually #1 or #2). I am not sure that Chris uses circles though. When spider rigging, the fish hook themselves, so you don't set the hook. I feel like the fish stay on better with those circle hooks. Anyway, that is the set up that I use, and I use the depth finder to see the level that the fish are, & adjust the depth accordingly.
    One important thing that Chris taught me is to attempt to fish into the wind, bumping the troll. motor along moving at a pretty slow pace. if you are going over brush piles, it's important to be able to hover, and sit that bait right in front of their nose. hopefully, this will help.
