    Default Trolling / Spider Rigging

Guys, how do you all tie up at the end of your line when you are doing this? If you have pictures of how you tie a jig / minnow rig it would be much appreciated. If you don't have a picture, can you please explain.

We tie a jig on the line and pull a split shot about 2' up the line.

Here is a rough drawing of the rig I use. If there is a lot of structure where I am fishing I will leave off the top hook. Use the heavier weight during summer when you troll a little faster.

pull down about 3 to 4 foot of line from tip of pole.. slide a hook or jig up the line to top of line and tie a loop knot w/ jig, leaving plenty of tag line. Now slide another hook or jig on and about 16 inches down from the first loop knot and tie another loop knot. Tie a 1/2 oz bell sinker to bottom of line and you are ready to go. You may want to use different lengths, just experiment. Make you loop knots about 4 inches long. I have found this rig the easiest and most efficient to use and can be tied quickly. Surgeons loop knot works best for me. Here's a link you'll want to save for knots.

Creekslick and Averie have the right idea...but just to add another style. I usually don't use a swivel. My simplest rig is to run the line through a 3/4 oz egg sinker about 4 times and then tie a hook on. It's just about the fastest rig to tie on the water. I've also started adding a hook above the sinker with the loop knot that Averie uses.

If I'm really prepared, I pre-rig at least half my poles with the style Averie uses...but usually don't tie them on the water (especially if it's windy).

Chris.....your little trick of running the line through the slip sinker about 4 times is the way Wally Marshall explained it when I saw him in Missouri earlier this year. It seems logical this would be the quickest fix while on the water. 3 times it seems to slip too much but 4 times seems to be pretty solid.
