Rain Rain Go Away
Darryl and I took a drive out to Greeson today and it looks to me like it will be going over the spillway within the next 48 to 72-hours. It has only gone over the spillway once and that was back in 1968.
They aren't letting any water out to reduce flooding downstream and the Little Missouri River and all the feeder creeks we crossed are over their banks and rolling fast. Even if it stopped raining right now it would keep rising for days and it looks like it is going to rain all night and into Monday.
We decided to move our camper from its "permanent" location to make sure it wouldn't get flooded and the water came up several inches in the hour and a half or so that we were there. We got the camper out just in time too as the water was about 6-inches deep in the parking lot we drove through on the way out.
It's going to be messed up big time for while.

Jerry, is the campers location where is was during CC 2006?, if so you have been getting some rain. I left here saturday morning to go see JWhite and billbob at Sardis it has been raining like heck here too. Though we need it. Just send the rain my way.

Hey Rusty:
No we got a permanent spot over behind the marina but that whole camping area we were in for Spring Crappie Camp will be under water in another day or so. It's still raining.

Here's some pics I put on the main board.
Kirby Landing boat ramp is very submerged and totally unserviceable. Between the light post and small post on the left is the head of the boat ramp. Full pool is about 30-40 feet out from that.
This is where the camper was sitting before we moved it to keep it from floating away.
And, a pic for comparison. The big tree on the left of the flooded pic is the same one at the back of the camper.

Kirby Landing Marina parking lot.

I bet money we don't have to hear these two whine about high water long. I would say by Friday they are posting pictures of there clients loaded with green timber crappie. Just think now Greeson has more structure than Grenada.
Those photos are just shocking. I remember at the spring CC you both said the water was as high as it had been in years. Then the fall CC it was bad low, and now this. That is some serious transition you are having to deal with over the course of a year compared with other more stable lakes.

Kinda puts the crappie on the move, LOL. That's okay, there's more water now for more crappie. It's a little after 3:00 a.m. and it's still raining. The rain woke me up. It's getting colder outside too. Can you say, "Crappiesicle."
I just checked the flow data from Ouachita, Hamilton and Catherine (all on Ouachita River). Normal river flow through all the dams is 200 cfs and normal electric generation flow is 3,800 cfs, but as of 3:10 a.m.:
1,021 cfs through Blakley Dam (out of Ouachita into Hamilton);
24,624 cfs through Carpenter Dam (out of Hamilton into Catherine)
14,585 cfs through Remmel Dam (out of Catherine into Ouachita River)
Looks like the area around Lake Catherine is getting flooded. No doubt, Lake Catherine State Park's campground is under water. Might have to go check that out if they haven't already got it blocked off and closed.

We have been getting rain steady now for about 4 days. No idea how much total, but its still raining now. Same storm as your just jetting up across the country and dumping on me. Problem here is that the temps are real closr to freezing and at any time it could all turn to ice. So far we have been lucky and its stayed just above freezing. Could you imagine getting that kind of flooding and then it freezing 4 inches thick? Yikes!
Good things come to those who bait.
