I ordered a new prop today for my 40 evilrude. :D I am having great difficulty getting it up on plane. I have to move my fishing partner to the front of the boat then it comes up fine and goes like a scalded cat. When I am alone, it comes up slowly and then porpuses so wildly I have to back down to slow speed.I took the prop to Dave's Boats, and he said the prop was badly out of kilter and was knicked in several places (it was that way when I got it).
So I ordered a new prop (11 3/4 x 17), and it should be in this week. I hope that cures the problem. If not my only other option would be to go to a power tilt and trim which is expensive, or keep moving my fishing partner to the front of the boat. Maybe I'll just go slow and save a bunch of money.:p Anyone else have this problem? My boat is a 17.5' Alumaweld Xpress, with a gross wgt of 1200 pounds.
Oh btw, I put out three stake beds the other day and have three more ready to go. Have to wait till the lake lice are not so thick after the holiday.
