    Default SI help

New to the side imaging world a bit, have been really trying to use it more effectively lately. Cruising around today I went to a brushpile I had marked and found what I assume to be a school of fish suspending above it. How do you identify what kind of fish they are or if it's just a ball of baitfish? How could I tell if these are crappie or not?

RK1, I wouldn't dare stare start guessing. But, there are some guys over on the electronics forum that would love to see what you've got and could give you a ton of good info.

Could have been a mix of crappie feeding on a school of shad or just crappie. Definitely some bigger fish in there by those larger bright spots.

i would say crappie... best way to tell between crappie and shad is shad will b more tightly grouped but the main thing is look for the individual shadows... if u zoom in on tht left side u can see they have individual shadows... shad will not unless it jus happens to b monster shad... also the distance of the shadows will help tell u how deep they r if they arent right under u ( which these crappie were under u so u already know how deep they r)
