Nimrod, I figure and I bet you'd agree, you could single handedly have a direct impact on 2 fisheries if given permission from the AGFC. I've read that you fish 200 days per year. I've read on slow days you catch 75 fish. I've read that the beggars around there are quite particular on their charitable hand outs. So, I offer you this:
On a below average year of 200 slow days of fishing (75 fish) you're going to boat 15,000+ fish. You, nor the beggars want the overcrowded dinks. The gizzard shad are too big for the dinks to eat, so the dinks are not gonna get any bigger. and must be eradicated or removed. I propose and would support an initiative by the AGFC that allows you, Nimrod, to first and foremost keep the 1,000 or so fish per year that you wish to personally consume. Here's where it becomes win/win for all..... Carry the remaining 14,000+ fish below the dam to be released into the Fouche River.
You'd be improving both fisheries, feeding yourself and maybe a few others, as well teaching the beggars a lesson that beggars can't be choosers. I don't remember the old adage being: Give a man a fish, feed him for a day but next time he'll want bigger fish.
Anyway, I don't know what Leone would think about this, but I say it's worth consideration at minimum... I think you'd be overly qualified for the gig !
