    It's the size. The higher the number the bigger the hook.
    It will say 1/0 , 2/0, 3/0 etc, on the package.
    We've been using 9/0 Gamakatsu octopus hooks on the noodles. Going to go bigger since we broke one to easy when it got hung up.

    Thanks! Duh... I should have noticed that. I'm used to seeing size written as "9/0" but I SAY it as "nine ought" so I should have been able to figure that one out. Ot, OT, ot = ought!

    I thought maybe there was some super duper new double-strength hook I might "ought" to try! So much for my double-nought spy powers! No wonder I couldn't find big game hooks advertised as having an Offshore Temper!

    ought. Like double ought buckshot. Just means "zero." Like 0/0 1\0, 2\0, 3\0, etc.
