    Default 1st Flathead Trip of The Year


    This past week we ran limb lines to collect flathead brood stock for the hatchery. This is my first real attempt at it and I think we did pretty good. The first night we caught four flathead and four channel cats on 16 lines. The next night we ran 40 lines and caught eight more flatheads and another dozen or more channels. The flathead ranged I size from 3 to 35 pounds. We had two hooks straitened, 2 swivels bushed, and one broken branch and missing line. Needless to say I upgraded lines, swivels, and hooks. Next time, I will be going after the big girls! Man I love Lake Conway! You can get into just about any fishing that you want to out there.

    Nice Flatheads , I did not know ya'll raised any Flatheads ? Always thought they were difficult to raise because of cannibalism ?
