Thread: WARNING New Tracker Boats

The same thing happened to me with my Tacker on the ramp at Carden Point. The trailer just broke over the top of the ramp going down when the boat slid back on the trailer, the fin on bottom of motor hit the ramp ground the fin along the concrete.
It could have been worse. Now the strap stays hooked up till I get down to the water.

I just don't understand why you would risk dumping your boat on the ground when all it takes is less than 10 seconds to get out and unhook??? To each their own I guess.

I've done hundreds of times, never had a problem. The ramp at Carden Pt. is not a steep ramp. I learned my lesson, never again. It was a stupid mistake. Did you ever make one of those?

I usually fish alone and I always stop at the water yo tie my rope on. Another one of those not worth the risk things.

Got my new boat, very first dang trip to the lake and it slid right off! My heart jumped in my throat!!! as big and heavy as that motor must be, I'm not surprised on that one.

I understand that now. But like I said, I have fished on average of at least 2 days a week, since I was old enough to walk. My dad fished the same frequency throughout his life, and so did my grandfather. Out of all 3 generations this has never happened, nor have I even heard of it happening. I know commercial fisherman that never hook up their boats ever, not even driving down the highway. So I guess im saying theoretically it seemed possible but never heard of it happening, therefore figured it never would. My mistake, hahaha and it wont happen again I promise yaw that.

Another thing I see people not do, that puzzles me, is not to have a rope on the front of the boat. Now some people drop the bow trolling motor to hold it at the landing, but others will beach a boat, park the truck and come back. I saw probably, 7-8 boats one summer, go floating off while the truck was parked. The wind and waves from passing boats do not care if you'll be back in a minute.

My boat was also a Stinger 195 with 115 Merc.

I KNOW what my problem is. It's listening to my "efficient" fishing partner (no, he doesn't come on this board). He wants to back in while I sit in boat. It's more 'efficient' that way. That works at Nimrod where ramp is short and shallow. But a steep ramp? No way. He told me for years "I know you think that will come off, but it won't". And of course, it did. From then on, I told him "You can either do it my way or make the boat payments".
