    Default WARNING New Tracker Boats

Tracker makes super boats, I have a 17.5 and love it. The new models have a great new powder coat finish. This year that finish is applied to the bottom of the boat as well as the sides. It is a real slick finish. So slick, some boats are sliding off the trailer while being backed down the ramp. Beware and be aware, don't unhook from the winch until you are in the water. I have heard this from a local marina as well as from a tracker salesman.

Well, I don't normally tell on myself, but this one is the fault of my fishing buddy, not me.

You know those "trailer slick" bars that you can put on your trailer? Well, if you have those installed, and IF you go to palarm creek on the river, and IF you unhook before you back down, you MIGHT lose your boat on the ramp before the water is ever engaged.

I don't KNOW this, but I've heard it MIGHT happen.

    Be forewarned.

I don't understand why one would unhook the bow strap before getting in the water.

We do it all the time when you commercial fish the fast and easy way to off load the boat when by yourself is unhook boat tie long rope to trailer and kick the boat off the only time I don't unhook till I get to bottom is if I went hunting and we had a freeze that night cause then your boat is sure to slide off

I do the same thing when I'm by myself. Tie the bow rope to the trailer, back it in and bump it off, pull forward till you can get the rope, pull the boat up to the bank and to park.

Same thing for the Lowe Stinger 195's! Will slide right off your trailer! I have loaded and unloaded boats thousands of times, have always unhooked and never had a problem. Got my new boat, very first dang trip to the lake and it slid right off! My heart jumped in my throat!!! I would have never told a soul but since its brought up I will share to prevent someone else from making same mistake.
