Man your right that Maumelle creek and river is flat loaded with some Big Fat Cottonmouths. Them things get real aggressive this time of year when they come out of hibernation looking for warmth, love, food and a nice warm boat motor to crawl up into. Them things give me the heebee jebees when I see em coming slithering up high in the water towards my boat. Good catch and be careful.

Here is another warning for ya... go up into a cove or up into the Fouche river coming into Lake Nimrod and set back turn on a bright Lantern or two and do a little Night time catt'in or crappie fishing. Tell me what ya see come swimming towards ya after a little bit. Nimrod has em buddy. Burrrrrrrr.

I would have had a BM, a big one! I hate moccasins! I have smelled them before, also. Once when I was squirrel hunting, I began smelling one and could not spot him, anywhere. I knew I had to be close though. I backed out of there.

My dad tells a story of a snake dropping out of an overhanging limb in the boat with him on Cox Creek Lake in Leola. He broke his boat paddle and dented up the bottom of his old teal green Ouachita boat.

Nice mess of fish, but would not have been worth a snakebite in the face! Looked to be a big moccasin too. Nasty! GTT

That was not the snake you were smellin!!

When I looked at the picture and could see the tail of the snake, I thought it looked like the tail of a cottonmouth. I'm not a snake hater, but I will kill every cottonmouth I possibly can. Any other snake, I'll just ignore.

    Glad you didn't get bit!

Did you need a clean pair of drawers after seeing that thing that close? I know I would have.
