Of course the ole decoy technique can be tried if a bunch of people are ganged up on one spot and you don't think you can crowd in. Here's how it works. First ease up within about 100 yards of flotilla of crappie catchers. Drop one large orange marker on the flotilla side of the boat. On the side opposite the flotilla drop ultra-light jig pole over the side with about a 4 or 5 oz lead weight. Let it settle to the bottom so the pole levels out with no bend. Suddenly with lots of WOOOOOOHOOOOOS! and splashing and flailing of rod, fight your lead weight back to the surface, grab your net and with lots of waving it around and splashing water, land your weight while keeping your body between the flotilla and the view of the weight. Flap the cooler lid open and shut. Repeat this technique until the distant flotilla begins to work themselves toward you. At the first signs of them moving toward you, simulate a break off and a retie. At the same time start to drift off your marker and toward their spot. The next thing you know, they are on your spot and you are on theirs.
