They need to do something. Fished from 6-dark last Thursday with nothing to talk about. Everybody that was leaving when we got there had the same report.

Has anyone fished Wapanocca in NE AR this year? I've heard rumors that it's terrible this year and the AGFC is considering draining & restocking. Is this true??

I believe Wapanocca is owned by the USFWS so that would be their decision on draining the lake. Call Jeff Farwick at the AGFC Brinkley office at 1-877-734-4581. Wapanocca is in his district and he might have some info for you.
i talked to the refuge manager a couple of weeks ago. the rumors you are hearing about the fish are true. thou i havent heard a thing about a restock. i would highly doubt they would drain the lake seeing they did that in '06. unfortunately i have to remind myself that this lake is a DUCK refuge. fish, i believe, are not at the top of the priority list. its sad to see everyone have such a good year last year and now absolutely nothing.
I haven't been down there and fished this year. What made last year so great and had so many fish coming out of there and this year no one can catch fish? What has changed?
when you figure out what happened to wappanocca start working on what happened at Burnt Cane.

I havent heard what exactly has happened to the lake other than possible low oxygen levels but no reports of dead fish. I have heard several ideas from others but they are all speculation. ---- tried burnt cane a few times last year. Love the setup of the lake, hated not ever getting a bite!
I've been to Wapanacca 5 time this year, NOT A BITE!!!!!!!!!!!!! But I talked to a guy yesterday he caught 3 nice size brims'. Another guy, an older gentleman was just out there. He said that he was waiting on somthing to do with the weather to change and the oxygen in the lake. Maybe he was right> Burnt Cane did good for me last year, I have not been this year. I will be trying Wapannacca out Thursday morning.
