These are 10/0 Mustad. I prefer 8/0 or 9/0. This was all the had. Just need enough to hold the bream.
The last I had was Gamagatsu "Did I spell it right"? They were 8 or 9/0 with 1/2 the shank of these, but were not stainless steel. They had a coating on them, when you would sharpen your hooks they would rust. But I loved how they were made!
If Bates gets some smaller ones in this morning I will try to do some swapping!
I can never find slicks unless I go pay $8 a pound! I never have been able to find them in the water. Bluegills will be a dime a dozen soon!
Save A Minnow, Use A Jig
Most creeks and Fouche la Fave River are full of Slicks around here. I use mostly 5/0 or 6/0 Eagle claw hooks in stainless on limblines and noodles. Those hooks are very costly . I had a guy give me a an tangled old snag line full of 9/0 hooks. Have not tried them.
I have caught several 30 to 42 lbers on the smaller hooks. How big has your biggest been over there?

Takeum Jigs
I use 9/0 coated eagle claw wide gap circle hook, not for trotlines though. I jig log piles behind the dikes on Mississipi river with the biggest bream I can get. Last year I had a lot of trips messed because spent half the day looking for bait, so I started using a cast net. That helped alot, but now I've started trapping. I libe right on the Missouri/Arkansas border so i have to be careful, Missouri allows 5in bream, Arkansas only 4". In the process of building a tank to store 100
or so for a buffer.
This one came from Cane Creek Lake in November off of trotline. Weighed around 36 lbs using perch.
