I'll throw out my opinion, for what its worth (probably not much)........
ABH turned me on to crappie nibbles and I fish with them all the time now. This weekend I fished with a buddy who doesn't use nibbles. At times I was catching fish and he wasn't, at times he was catching and I wasn't. In the end it was a wash, full disclosure, he may of caught a few more. Point is nibbles may be a confidence thing, when you have confidence in a presentation your technique is better. At times nibbles may give a decisive advantage, at other times it may just give you the confidence to fish the best you can, i.e. - better technique. I also feel that same thing is true with the age old minnow vs jig argument, some people have confidence in one or the other. I don't use minnows much at all anymore, but I do believe that in specific situations minnows will out fish jigs and other times the opposite is true, it all depends on the bevy of variables that factor into the behavior of a crappie at that specific time.
Also, there are so many other factors that lead to how successful you are depending what presentation your making. This weekend for example the fish were very ticky about jig weight, we were casting and vertical jigging. The jig weight, type and action imparted had way more bearing on bite than color or nibbles. In my humble opinion.

Well I too am a proponent of the nibbles in the right color. Never had luck on the white ones only the Chart. ones. I have seen times when one guy in the boat using them would seem to out catch his buddy who wasn't using them. They don't seem to hurt but help. I don't use them enough it seems. I've never used them with minners though only jigs and especially in the summer time they seem to work best for me.
