prefer 1/4 crecent to new moon, bass bite better on a new moon when chunking spinnerbaits and worms, for the top water action at night go with the brightest fullest moon. My preference is to have a new moon situation, or clouds over the full moon.I bass fish on a daily basis from the time the water warms to 55 degrees until it cools back off to 55 degrees in the fall, crappie is a fish better served cold for me, love crappie fishing in the cold months.

Crappie is better in the cold month and they seem to bite just as well in those months, least when the water temp isn't just bitterly cold they do. They still bite in really, really cold water, just deep and slower, kinda like the Summer bite. For the most part I do about what you'd said, key in more on bass in the summer and key in more on crappie in the colder months. It's hard to get bass to do much when water temps drop below say 55 degree's but crappie are another story.

Well, as for me and my little study I'm trying to do. This is what I saw the past week.

The bream were on the bed last Wed. 06/27/12. When I went back on Sat. they were gone. And on Sat. could not buy a real bite. The water is so clear here I can watch the fish. the big ones would not even come in to the fish food. Bait stealer's would just peck a cricket off or hook.

So I say about a week before the full moon for the bream to be on the bed and good catchin. Guess we'll try that next month and see.

night fishing for bass is good three days before and 3 days after the full moon. The largest northern strain large mouth bass in Arkansas ( 14.7 #) was caught on a full moon.
