If you fish Beaver for stripers you will need a clear lline. They can see braid. I use 12# Cajun Red or 12# P-Line Fluroclear. Flurocarbon is best but cost the most so you might want to use Cajun Red with a 4ft. Flurocarbon leader. IMO

I use the KISS method (keep it simple) -- Trolling rods -> 6# Vanish Transition
Ultra light -> 4# P-line. Works for me, LOL!

I see folks using the vanish lines. Are they good line? Any drawbacks?
Conservatism is derived from experience while liberalism is derived from ideology.
I have tried lots of different lines and I like the Vanish Transition because of it's low memory, it's limp, knots hold very well, the fish can't see it and it's tough as nails. What more do you want in a fishin' line?? I fish Lake Monticello here occasionally and it is as clear as a swimming pool. If those LM specks suspect anything at all you may as well pack up and go to the house! Last summer my son (blue thunder) was fishing the same top as an out of towner using the same baits (he had spotted David at one of our honey holes); only difference was the other guy was using 12 lb line (prob an off brand) .....the score was 14 black slabs to Zeero when the OOTer finally got the reds and hauled butt back North hollerin' he wouldn't be back to LM without 6 lb line, LOL!!! I wasted a lot of money rigging up with braid several years ago because I was convinced it was better. Maybe on some lakes it works for some folks...but not for me. I spent more time cutting out wind knots than I spent fishing. Maybe I wasn't using it the right way or something cause I have some friends that like it and I know it is good stuff but anyhow now I just use what works for me.

I've been using the Cajun Red in 6LB mono for a while now, it's invisible in the water and really strong for wherever you fish.
I will say I tried the Vanish back when it first came out, very limp, very invisible and easy to fray and break so I quit using it. My buddy was using it as leader line while bass fishing and kept breaking on the swing, the leader line that is so he quit using it. I really like the Trilene lines though for the most part, very tough.
I used vanish last saturday and didn't have any problems with breakage, i just don't know have to fish with minnows!!!! I did however buy some of that cajun line today while i was out so i will go ahead and put that on. will go with that p-line for a striper leader should work ok thanks for the help

I recently bought a large bulk spool of stren original in 6 #, it does good on my crappie rods, fairly limp and exceptionally strong..I assumed it was in the clear blue I had used 20 years ago, nope..its clear, hard to see to tie on for a old blind man,,but I suffer through that because of its other qualitys...not saying its the bvest,,but I like it more every time I use it.
