Like I said, I hate to feel the way I do about that particular agency and I am always civil to them when being checked but I still wouldn't trust a word they say. It is regretable but they haven't earned any respect at all from me with the way they have operated thus far...I hope I am wrong about them but at this point it is something that would have to be proven. Gabowman, you are right. We were fully expecting a Louisiana ticket for no lifejacket when we were checked. They were fully within their rights to do so but took it upon themselves to give us the benefit and courtesy of a doubt. We were fishing in front of the ramp and were only about 250 ft from the truck. We had that extra lifejacket in the boat within three minutes! The only way to fish and hunt around here is to always make sure you are within the law at all times. That way you will not have to worry about the hassle of a ticket and dealing with Greenjeans.
After reading your post, I don't understand your point. As you stated, if you are within the law, you don't have any reason to worry about a HASSLE or a ticket. So what's your beef? On one hand you are upset because they didn't meet your expectations. On the other you acknowledge that if you're within the law you got nothing to worry about. Kinda contradictory, isn't it? Just sayin.

Guess I need to photocopy a transfer tag and make a ton of copies as I give away fish and game alot.

I hate to disagree, and I do give some fish and game away on occasion, if the person is truly in need, or I don't have enough to make a meal, but to do it all the time is no different than taking more than your share, or double dipping. It allows people to take more than the Posession Limit, and continue to fish or hunt. It also keeps people from having to buy a liscense to hunt or fish, which affects the budget for the game and fish. Even if you give your G&F away, it should still count on YOUR possession limit. Just like deer hunting and feeding the hungry, you still only get so many tags to fill and you're through. With fish, who's counting if we don't!!!!!!!! Give fish to everybody in town, and still keep fishin just ain't right for our future!!!!!!!
Feed the world, and continue to harvest. Where does the possession limit apply?

Not contradictory at all Jigflinger.... The point is, don't expect to be treated like we were in Louisiana if the same thing happens in Arkansas. You WILL get a ticket regardless of the situation! Give a fish to an elderly old man who is too feeble to really even be down there watching you fish and both of you WILL GET A TICKET if you happen to not give written permission to have the fish. David should have gotten a pat on the back for helping the old guy out.....he wasn't about to go over the total limit of ten fish. But to add insult to injury the game warden gave the old man a ticket also!!!! That was simply incredible!! David said he doubted the old guy could even read...another person had driven him down there. That was in my opinion a disgrace and the game warden should have been ashamed of himself! Did he take time to explain the law and give either of them a warning like any sane right minded person would do?? NO! He saw the opportunity to write a ticket and he did it. It's like game warden training in this state stops short of teaching them how to make a judgement call based on the situation. YES, David was in violation of the law....I am not argueing that point Jigflinger. But it was clearly wrong to give them both tickets. It's simply a matter of what is Right and what is Wrong. No, they do not meet my expectations as a tax paying citizen of this state and yes I will obey the game laws so that I will not have to deal with them. No contradiction there..thats plain and simple.....don't understand why that isn't crystal clear. I also do not believe for one second that this rule will in any way prevent so called "double dipping". I do not do it but I have known people who do and believe me writting a note to someone ain't gonna make any difference whatsoever to them. That's a joke! BTW, I caught 50 slabs last Saturday and gave 35 of them away to a guy with cancer who had been wanting some Crappie. Yes, he got a note in case greenjeans knocks on his door and wants to check his freezer. BTW, what if I had stopped in Eudora on the way home from La to get a soft drink at the convenience store and a warden drove up and wanted to look at my fish. The limit at Eudora's Grand Lake is only 30. I would have a lot of explaining to do and would probably have to explain to a judge that I caught them in Louisiana where the limit was 50. If Arkansas could make it stick I think they would....even knowing full well that I had caught them somewhere else. When I leave a lake I go straight home and don't stop because I don't expect them to take anyone's word for anything. I never keep over the limit and usually give away at least half of what I catch, sometimes more. I always give them to folks who need and appreciate them and are unable to get them any other way. I feel real good about it! And if someone is upset because they think it will hurt the Crappie population and decrease the number of fish they can catch then I am sorry. If they get to where they can't catch any then I will give them some too (if they ask me nice)! I work in five counties and sometimes have folks try to buy Crappie from me. They tell me that they have bought them before. I just explain that it is illegal to buy/sell Crappie and that they will get fined if they are caught. There are apparently a lot of Crappie being sold in SE Arkansas. I know it would take a little bit of work to catch them at it but I think that is the type of things the game wardens should be worrying about instead of picking on little old ladies. Just Sayin'

Read the posts , if you give away your catch they still legally apply as your limit for that day. That is the reason for the tag and for persons that don't fish who don'rt have a licence. Either way they apply as your limit for the day even if you give them away.

Oh yea Big River Marine, in Arkansas if you read awhile back on here we discussed possession limits too. Legal possession limit is 2 days catch in your possession .But processed fish stored at your permenate home dos not apply. So you can legally keep a limit everyday if you clean them and haul the fish home.

When does that two-day possession limit begin? Does it start when you get back to your camp or when you leave the lake with your ice chest. Suppose a buddy brought his own vehicle because he was supposed to be on call that day and the both of you wound up with two limits. Then he leaves in his own vehicle leaving you with a two-limit ice chest on the drive back to camp. Wouldn't the buddy be required to give you a written statement that he had caught half the fish to be in strict compliance with the rule? Believe me, this situation happens quite often, at least with me. Also, I had a couple of buddies who said a warden tried to tell them they needed to have two ice chests in the boat in order to keep up with their own individual limits! I ain't gonna say what they told him....but they fished with one ice chest that day and still do!
