Guys, the rule is there so that people do not double dip. If you leave wiggle room within regulations, it will be taken adavantage of every single time. We all know someone that would catch their fish and give a limit away to their wife, son, aunt, whomever so that they could keep fishing. Don't we want to keep the resource there so that future generations can enjoy the same thing we do?

luvpt, I'm very sorry that your son and aunt had a bad experience with two INDIVIDUAL wildlife officers, but you have to keep in mind, but you have to keep in mind that this is a very small sample of the overall interactions between sportsment and wildlife officers in this state. It is far from fair to say that AGFC officers are such and such generalization. I know officers from all over the state, and they are individuals with their own thoughts, opinions, and experiences. It is the same with police officers, one may write you a ticket for 1 mph over bc he/she is having a bad day, and down the road, the next cop might write you a warning for going 15 over.

I don't want to keep rehashing this. My opinion was not formed by these two instances only. I could write a book with the stories I have heard and witnessed over the past 30 years of Crappie fishing.....some tickets completely justified....but others just unbelievable. More than one involving the elderly who aren't as "up to date" as us younger folks (I don't like anybody picking on old folks!) when a kind explanation and a warning would serve the same purpose and avoid those hard feelings. As Creek advised...We will just have to agree to disagree regarding this issue and leave it at that. That's all I will say on this subject.

Of course you can keep a limit every day. Now if someone were to catch a limit, clean them, take them home and go back and catch more it's illegal. Just sayin. And according to the possession rule, you can keep 2 limits with you if they were caught on two seperate days. And to me the calendar day starts at 12:00 Midnight and ends 24 hours later. Your interpretation of one day may differ from mine. Last word rests with the WO and judge. Use your own judgement and common sense.

    Default Random Question

I don't know to many people that catch a limit everytime they go fishing, but I don't think this is the issue at all.
I've never knew of this writing a note to transfer your fish before, but on the other hand I've never read the hand booket all the way though, this is a eye opener for sure.
I fish Ms. also so I better check the hand booket on it too. This has been a great post, but sorry things happen the way they did.
This law might qualify to be a sticky here on the Ar. forum, it might save some body a lot of grief.

I fish in MS too. I don't recall reading or seeing anything about it in their handbook. I do know that they have a law that prohibits a non-resident from harvesting a doe deer. Silly but true.
