Is there a new eradicator out? Or are you referring to the 2018 Eradicator Real Finesse a bunch of us have?

Sorry but think I posted the link. This is the new one. I like it very much and for my stile of fishing open water sniping think it's even better than the 6'7" as the added length give you a little more control of jig while still having all the benefits, sensitivity etc. of the shorter version. Scott
Hopefully will have an Abu Zenon arriving for Christmas - will be pairing it with my Tict RF if I get one. :)

Seeing this post reminded me I never gave feedback on the Abu Garcia Eradicator Realfinese ERFS-73SULT-ST-TZ Slow Taper Special 73. It is now my favorite rod. I like it even better than the 6'7". But to understand better you have to understand my primary fishing method throughout the winter Jan. - Feb. being my absolute favorite months of the year when the BIG girls how up suspended in open water and I'm sniping them with livescope. I make my cast with a dock shooting motion to precisely place the jig where I want it. The 7'3" is even better than the 6'7", and the little extra length allows me to lower the rod tip with a little more control when I'm a little high on the fish and don't want to open my bail to get the jig just above his or her head as I slowly swim it by. It is just slightly steelier in the tip and handles them 1/8th oz. jig I'm using a lot right now. I have ordered my 2nd one which is unfortunately out of stock right now with a Abu Garcia Zenon 2000SH . I chose the Zenon not as much because of weight as it's a 6.3 reel ratio which for what I'm doing an advantage in that if I'm short or fish ignores me I can more quickly reel back and shoot again. Now that I finally have fiber internet as soon as I figure out how I'll start posting some pics. Scott

Yeah! I'm officially a picture poster. Had to use the app. Tried for an hour from computer and couldn't make it work even though I read every post I could find on posting, keeping in mind I'm tech challenged.

Mighty fine pictures they are. Good job. :highfive
Good write up on the rod. I’m a big fan of the Zenon reels for sure. Nothing wrong with those pics.

Any thoughts on the Shimano Ultegra 1000? It seems to get positive reviews for its price point. I am thinking of getting another Finetail rod and pairing it with a decent 1000 size reel.
On a sidenote, why no love for the Daiwa Daysprout 1000S-P?At 155g, it's super light and features 10+1 bearings. It's priced at $301.80 at fishingshop.kiwi...Thoughts??
I doubt you will get a Daysprout anytime soon. Nothing wrong with it but it is just not available anywhere. Over the last 2 years I have tried some pre order from Kiwi but the orders are cancelled down the road. Since covid I have a plan A, B, and C as my initial wants may not be available.

I own a Ultegra 2000s . A shallow spool version I ordered from across the big pond .
I’ve been very disappointed in it .
The reel winds smooth , but takes a lot of inertia to get the handle moving . And it sticks up on the low part of the winding stroke .
If you wind it a consistent pace it’s fine , but if you slow wind as in swimming a jig , it’ll stick every stroke .
I’ve hoped it would “ break in “ and it has gotten better , but it’s a long way from my Daiwa reels .
I’ve even attached a drill to it a couple of times trying to break it in .
I’ve had one out of five new model Shimano Sahara 500’s , bought here in the USA that had the same issue , that got returned.
If it weren’t so expensive to return something bought overseas , I would have returned the Ultegra.
I’m sure this was just bad luck for me , but Shimano’s QC isn’t what it used to be IMO .
The daysprout is an awesome reel as I have one and have recently looked for a 2000 size in it and have been unable to locate one. I am not sure if they just didn’t make many or what.
Looks like both a 23 vanquish and airity are released recently.
Plat video says made in Japan.
It doesn't look like the Airity comes in a 1000s, though. 2000s comes in at 145 grams with a 4.9 gear ratio.
Is the Daiwa Presso 1000SP worth it at roughly $285.00? I see that it is only 145g, wow!!
Several on here have this reel..and we paid considerable more than that for it. Now is the time to buy with the dollar to yen being so good...that won't last forever. I have had mine for a little over a year.....caught a ton of fish with it. As smooth as they come and very low inertia. You may or may not be aware but the new Daiwa Airity and Shimano Vanquish will hit the stores anytime now. If your budget allows I would take a strong look at them.

I got my Zenons at a great price....$215 a pop I think it was. Now they can be had for $265 and that is till a great deal. But it will no way compare to the new Airity or Vanquish. But those reels are $140 more. I would love to have both of them and may buy them...time will tell. I still have a friends Stella and Exist to do a review on....and I have to tell you playing around with both of them sure makes me drool...LOL.

cannot speak for the airity, but i own 3 2019 vanquish reels and a 2012 vanquish.
waiting to buy 2 of the 23 vanquish as soon as i see them on market, fantastic reels.
if your budget permits, they are well worth it.
If anyone is interested in Daiwa 2018 Caldia 1000s, hit me up.

I am excited about the 23 airity and the 23 vanquish both. I own a luvias airity 2500 and it is an excellent bass reel, also own a c2000s vanquish and it is my favorite UL reel. Plan on picking up a 1000/2000 of each this year.
For those waiting on the vanquish, are you pre-ordering with plat? Can you pre-order anywhere else? Or just waiting until they are released?

I don’t know of anyone else that is doing pre-order. My experience with new gear released…post pandemic….is if you do not get in line with a pre-order you may be waiting long time. I am assuming here…as anything could happen….but I fully expect the Vanquish to be sold out as soon as it comes on the market. Over the years it has been an extremely popular reel. I fully expect the new one to be even more so.

Digitaka had some airitys earlier today but none of the 2k size.
Digitaka has one 2000 size in stock right now. I just bought the Exist so I won’t be buying one right now but fun to look :)
I have a 23 2000 airity coming. Anyone interested in a 21 airity 2000-h?
