The point is when you make 2000 casts a day every gram matters. If you have never had a top of the line JDM reel you have no clue how well made they are.

That's true...have to admit though an 11 bearing reel at the weight of the Zenon 1000 is pretty impressive and while I have never had a Zenon in my hands no doubt in my mind it is a better reel than the Soare. I had my mind set on the Zenon 1000S but since they just teased with the video of the Presso 2021 reel I will have to take a very serious look at it.
Regards
I can't compare the two, so I won't speak to that. I was of course speaking only to the weight. Have been using both Vanquish 1000SSSPG and Luvias Airity 1000S-P, and trying Zenon 1000S is not high on my list, but that of course can change.
Since we're speculating though: in that video the body of the new Presso looks a lot like that of the 20 Luvias.
Your right I don't, never had one of those reels. But then I have never known the first person that makes 2000 cast's a day, I think that just over 4 cast's per min on 8 hrs of fishing!
Don up until about 5 years ago I would fish 5 days a week….sunup until sundown. No telling how many casts I would make…..the point is I cast a lot. As I have aged I am down to maybe 3 days a week and 4….5 hours on the water max. Since I only cast and retrieve I want to keep it as light as possible. I would never buy a reel just because it is light…it has to be high quality and light. I’m laying here in a hospital bed with a new left knee…already have a new right knee and hip…got a spinal repair last year…..both rotator cuffs repaired….and carpal tunnel surgery on both wrist. If all goes well my fishing time may increase…my hope anyway. But regardless I will keep my my gear as light as I can….just makes it better for me.

What was the last run of the Presso reels 2017 or 2018? Speaking of the Presso 1025 Limited to be exact. Are there any rumors of when if ever they are going to make a new version ? Scott
I am all to familiar with a couple of those problems and don't envy you at all. left roto cuff had to be repaired, left knee replaced and right knee on the way out now. But with these little rods and reels we are talking very few ounces! If an ounce makes a difference to you I think I could understand it. When I tore my roto cuff I couldn't lift my arm up to put the truck key in the ignition. Recovery took quite a good time better than I was told. I could not have made one cast a day at that time but, those are special case's! Separated my pelvis in a horse wreak and cracked the back of it all over, can't get my leg's up enough to get on a horse anymore and trouble going up and down stairs but again, special case! To get down on weight in pretty much anything takes compromise's. But then no idea how much to get down a mere once or two. But if that light is what you need to keep going I think I'd look for it also! With you problems I just couldn't see you casting 500 times a day let alone 2000!
I have a 2021 Luvias Airity FC LT2000S-P that I got in February when they were first released. Although not an exact equivalent, I also have a 2019 Ballistic FW LT2000SS-XH that I picked up last September. I swap them out frequently on my Lunakia 610 and my Tenryu Rayz Spectra 61LL. I'm a weekend warrior, not an everyday fisherman, so my experience is still relatively slim with these rods and reels.
I bought the Luvias Airity in part because I wanted to experience a more high-end Made in Japan Daiwa reel. I love my Ballistic FWs. I have them in the 1000 and 2000 size. Although Made in China, the Daiwa quality control is there, and I could not be more pleased with the Ballistic FW. And so far, I can not tell that the Luvias Airity is really $250 better than the Ballistic FW. The Airity is a wonderful reel, and I do love it, but I don't know that I will spend that much again.
I am looking at larger size reels to go after bigger trout and smallmouth, and I think I might get the 2020 Luvias (not the Airity) if I don't get another Ballistic FW.
Abu Garcia Zenon in stock at amazon.co.jp for those who were giving it a serious look.

This new aftermarket handle from SLP works should look great in combination with their EX LT spools and Zain knobs:
SLP-WORKS : SLPW 40mmカーボンライトハンドル ゴールド - Web site
And with that gold accent on the main gear cover in Luvias Airity... Might just have to take a punt at it.
That is a good looking handle.

According to digitaka, the Abu Garcia Zenon is made in China.

Abu Garcia Japan does not have any gear that is made in Japan. All their manufacturing is in China.

I was thinking mine came from hedgehog with a tiny allen wrench but I really couldn’t remember. Glad you got it out.
For those that have ordered the 21 Presso, have you received any updates?

is anyone interested in a luvias FCLT2000s, made in japan version? i added the extra bearings to it and used it once or twice. i have too much gear, and lean towards the higher speed reels. i would consider a shorter jdm rod or other interesting gear for trade, or sell outright. probably not the best place to post this, but figured i would give you guys a crack at it first. if not allowed, feel free to delete the post.
Verdo please check your PM. I sent you something on the reel.
Veedo, PM sent
Reel is sold, I'm unable to edit the post. Thanks guys.
Any Vanquish owners out there? What are your thoughts on the reel? Looking again at the 1000s version of this reel for my Lunakia and Tict RF.
A guy I talk to some on Facebook about JDM gear is all about the Vanquish. He has lots of high end Daiwa reels too. I did buy the 500 size Shimano the other day but mostly because Daiwa doesn’t offer a JDM reel that size. I am sure likely no binding issues with any of these high end JDM Shimanos but it sure put a bad taste in my mouth.
I bought one a couple years ago, and I used it very little, i fish in the brush a lot and it just doesn't make sense to be using light line/rods. But after finding some suspended fish, I paired the vanquish with the rocking finesse, and some 2.5lb varias. What a blast. Casts are smooth and accurate, everything just feels nice. I have mostly daiwas, including the airity, and St croix panfish elites. Both have their purpose. I'm sure if I spooled the airity with similar line and rod it would feel great also, but for now I think that combo is a great match. If they weren't so damn expensive I'd like to try the high speed version.
Any intel on when the Vanquish will be refreshed?

We are only talking crappie here I think. Doesn't take an expensive reel to bring one in. Found a rod I liked that came as a package, Shakespere rod and reel. Reel was alright but wanted the rod for another reel. Then I had a reel with no rod again so had an excuse to buy another rod! Strange how that works. The rod and reel together was something like $20 or maybe $25, didn't break the bank! But inexpensive as it was, it works well, both the inexpensive rod and reel! If I get a few years out of it I figure it was well worth the money!
Don’t matter if you talking crappie…bluegill…trout, any fish. We all know you don’t need a Japanese made reel to catch fish. But this is a thread about reels sold in the Japanese Domestic Market. I tell folks all the time on my channel you don’t need this gear to catch fish…but for those that want to purchase this gear it’s nice to have a resource to go to for one to find info on them.

Watch out for that rabbit hole it's VERY deep. Randy sent me down it about 3 years ago . Just ordered my 9th rod I think, the new 7'3" slow taper special with the 2022 exist. Life is good as my friend say's and getting better. Scott
