Well this is gonna be a long one. I was fishing last Saturday at 8 mile creek. Fished almost all day. Didn’t catch a fish. Well my mother calls and said she had fell. Said she was hurt and couldn’t get up. So I paddled back to the put in fast as I can. There are a few people on here that know how much work it is to get your kayak up the bank. So trying to hurry and get to her I leave it. This is around 4:30. By the time I get her situated it’s dark. I go back before 7 the next morning and of course it’s gone. There were a couple guys there fishing in a small plastic boat. Of course that made me wonder. I started posting on all the local fishing pages for people to be on the look out for it. Yesterday I get friend request on Facebook. Normally I just delete them. But I noticed this guy was from the area. So I accepted it. Just a couple minutes later I get a message saying he is the guy that was fishing in the boat. Before he said anything he showed proof that he had been trying to find me. He said they had moved up and was fishing around where the yak was. Some crack head looking guy walked up and asked if that was there kayak. The guy said yes to keep him from getting it. They loaded it up and took it with them and immediately started trying to find me. They luckily saw my post on the catoma lake page. I thought for sure it was gone for good. Had my brand new rod holders on it. Paddle. And well over $100 dollars in plastics and tackle. Thankful these guys were there and did the right thing. If not it would have been long gone. Just makes me feel good to know there are still some good people out there.
