I live in Guntersville and can tell you that the lake is up. I've ventured out a couple of times over the last 3 days and the water is real high. Some private piers are underwater and the lake/river isn't expected to crest until sometime tomorrow, Sunday. ALL the flood gates at the dam are open and the boat launch and parking lot on the south side of the river at the dam is under a few feet of water. There is all manner of debris floating in the stained to muddy water. I've seen pics of boathouses around Jackson County that have water 3 feet up the sides. Marshall, Jackson, DeKalb and Etowah counties got over 8 inches of rain in 24 hours from Christmas Eve thru Christmas Day. That's not including all the rain we had as just steady rainfall before the torrent came. I'd be real hesitant to make a trip up here to fish anywhere in north Alabama as all the runoff from upstream will still be pouring into all the river systems for the next few days. Also, Monday we're supposed to get another round of storms and heavy rain.
