I started out fishing from a kayak in Georgia. I wanted to get off the bank and quit beating the brush but couldn’t afford to spend much money. I was a young SSG (E-6) in the Army with a wife and a couple of kids. A kayak gave me a one man boat that didn’t require registration, maintenance, gas, insurance, monthly payments and I could launch from anywhere. My first kayak cost $350. Now I can afford a nice boat to chase Crappie, but I prefer my kayak still. I also have the ability to fish areas that have little pressure and I normal never see anyone else. Add the minimal impact that you have on the wildlife and it’s a match made in heaven!
