I made and painted the dash panels out of some 1/8 I had. Had the idea of painting the panels black but it just didn’t look right, so a trip with the 600 grit and presto!! Now they’re charcoal gray. The left one is screwed down but the other is just hangin around. Gonna tape the edges and start the wiring when the time comes. Gonna try to get a lot of it done before I put it back in. I need to find a little tray to throw jigs and junk in when I’m busy toptheretying. Thinking of a lip around the top of the console too.
Yes, the top of the console is a great place to put stuff like lures etc.
On 0ne of my boats i had holes on top due to wires etc. and i made a cover for the entire top from starboard with a 3/4” high ledge around the sides.

Great progress! Thanks for taking us along. I hear the local panfish are getting nervous.

Bud I use Clamshells to stop light glare. They are made in different sizes. Maybe one will work for you.

    Sorry! Something went wrong!

The link works just a Amazon link to what clamshell vents they offer.

Thanks Rojo. I looked into those on the link you sent. My lights are 3/4”x4”and I didn't see any that would do. I”ll figure something out. I’ll bet you I’ll catch fish from the boat before I figure it out.

I can break up to 6ft lengths .125 5052 aluminum and boxes up to 3-1/2in deep. Some .090 would be what I would usually fold a light shield out of. I don't think I have any in the building, could you send a link to the light to need to cover?

Got some 4”x2’ polished stainless sheet goods along with the piece i needed for the seat/live-well riser. Going to look at those today if the rain ever quits. The riser material is working well. Parts, I need parts. Got the live well parts in along with both pump replacements. Carpet got ordered along with the TM wire. Pickup more rivets while I’m out today, been using lots of those. The time invested in making parts, like the plates for the console, really takes a lot of time with hand or bench top tools. I miss my shop. The sheet metal shop I bought stuff from was a real pro setup. I could’ve spent a while messing around in there. I’ve also decided to put in a rod tray down the passenger side. Got to look into that more today. The sheet metal guy will like me som more. I’ve gotta go drop off the Jon for a carb redo so I’ll show some pics later, maybe. Did I say it was raining……

Been a little busy with things this week. I’ll be glad when the sheet metal work is done. I’ve got nicks and cuts on both hands, and they’re still sore. They’ll be better in a couple of days. Got the drain hose in and installed the live well. Didn’t order an elbow I thought I had so I’m still waiting on parts and trying to work around it. Digging thru what I have left in aluminum stock and found a piece of 2x2 square tube and I didn't remember I had. Cut that into some of the angle I needed and faked it with some of what else I had and presto!! I now have the rod shelf framed and remembered why I didn’t like doing the frame work. My large, out of shape self doesn’t like getting down on all fours and crawling around like a young man. Maybe I’ll be back to walking right come tomorrow. Got to go see the sheet metal man again tomorrow and get a couple of pieces to fill in. Going to have the vertical wall that goes from front to back made with a folded over top inch or so to keep things from scooting around quite so much. A rod tie down or two is also in order. I wrapped it around a corner and gave myself some extra needed space to accommodate an 8’ rod. Came out good for using scrap and leftovers. Carpet came the other day. I need to get everything buttoned up and put the console back in to get a copy of its footprint traced on the floor. Unlike the way it was built, the majority of the rug won’t be wrapped around the edges of everything it was on. I’ll tuck in the edges where I can but I’m not concerned about that much. I’ll be using contact cement and it sticks pretty well. Nav lights and courtesy lights are all in and the DPDT switch for the bilge is in the works too so it will be either automatic off a float switch or manual by the switch. After raising the drivers seat/live well I had to recut the trim that hide the plumbing, kept me busy while the parts travel. Might revisit that piece again. I don’t quite like the coverage yet. Also got the TM wire (6/2 duplex marine) installed through it’s rubber grommet and found out I have enough room for the battery. New plug and socket for thats done too. Coming along slow but i like it so far. Heres the pics….

Sorry for the fuzzy pic but thats an eight foot rod laying on the incomplete frame for the shelf. Not much room underneath the shelf but I’m kicking around whether the juice would be worth the squeeze to put hatches and junk. Thanks for the visit……Tim
