Thru last Friday the fishing has been about as good as it gets. bluegill and redear started fanning beds on a couple of shallower lakes a week ago Monday - game on thru Friday.. Took Sat and Sunday off due to the weekend and cold front and wind that blew through.. Colder weather all week, but the water temp is right..

Put in a couple of hours last night on a deep, clear lake, found male and female bluegills staged on the first break weed line, troughs into shore from that break was the key- find that trough and you found nice fish, sharp breaks didn't produce well - dinks in shallow.. I'd say latter part of this week and all of next should be the absolute best fishing of the year..

I've put just over 400 keepers (7") or better bluegills
and red ears and a few crappies in the boat since April 23 and cleaned 300.. Predominantly males, been releasing the large females back to hopefully reproduce. Will continue to do so the next two weeks. I'm just about panfished out lol.. Will be switching over to recreational bass fishing soon and maybe a bit of walleye until mid july, then back to bottom bouncing gills.

Might get to slip out weds pm if the weather is right, but Thur-Sun I'll probably be on the water daily - hate fishing sat and sun, but oh well just have to suck it up. Picking up the new trolling motor for the boat this afternoon and will install tomorrow am.. 24V 80 Lb Terrova with the cool features lol.. Finally upgrading from a 55lb 12 v powerdrive with no spot lock..

Have a great spring and hit the water the next couple of weeks if you can!!

Those females won't reproduce without some of those males around, it takes 2 to tango!
