Hit an early spring spot yesterday, a canal that is the first place I find crappie every spring. We managed 21 between two of us, most 10-10 1/2 but a few pushing the 12" mark. Baby shad, 1/16 jig under a bobber. Water temp was 49. Found out when we were leaving that a local had hit them hard the evening before so that explains it being a little slow. Name: IMG_2871.jpg

Disturbed minds think alike. I made my first trip out today to a canal that warms early. First cast put the first keeper in the box. Ran out of minnows at 20 then a Bobbie Garland baby shad on 1/16 jig under slip bobber put the last 5 in the box.
Cold moving in but next weekend looks like great fishing.Name: 20250406_163948.jpg

Don't think the train of fronts, cold conditions and all the recent rain helps the cause. Looks like things may moderate next week... Post some picks when you get into them!

Hey Buckeye. I just checked the 2024 master angler report and saw some Guber from Ohio crashed the party.

That’s me! We cleared our calendars and are planning on coming north for the party. Got a seat saved and some jigs?

Cool! Maybe we'll get you another master angler. Where are you staying?
