Those straw hats certainly make a difference in the heat and drinking a lot of water is vital, something I don't do enough in the blazing sun. Those crappie fish got some nice coloration at that lake.
I drank a 6 pack and them some .....waters ....
of course at 102 and the sun melting you it is something that must occur just to survive such an event .
the early 8 15 pit stop to kill time was tough , 30 minutes and only 6 fish and only one was a nice one ....
the second stop around 2 pm at another spot in the direct heat was rewarding ......but boy howdy did I do me some drinking , the water just went in me about as fast as the fish came out of it .....
drink a lot and survive to do it again ......heavy drinking is key ....
most of the fish at both stops either lightly pecked it or slacked the line ....
some were high in the water column in some shade and some were on the bottom in the shade at both spots ....
had to change hats as well , a bigger brim was totally needed for stop 2 ...
to bad the shade wasn't on me at either stop .....just saying
and yes KABOOM is the word ....
AND>>my go fund me page for a new straw hat is about to crank up too, just saying
p.s. around a 100 fish later , I got home about 5 and actually has me a nice frosty mug of beer with a fresh squeezed lime in it .......mighty fine finish for sure![]()

I had to pull back a bit. Drinking a lot of water but soaking my clothes with sweat twice, three times a day caught up with me. Ducked the heat most of yesterday & the day before to just get fully hydrated again. I went to one of the Cooling Caps, it does work.
the extreme heat is a beast , my body can't take it like it used to , I have to take ac breaks during most of my outside activities this time of year, one thing for sure , lots and lots of cold water needs to be with me or I will quit the outside thing and go find me some cold water in quick fashion ....this is a fact ....![]()

I just hide anymore but I do wear an old straw hat when I am out in it.

I started using those long sleeve hoodies specifically made to help keep you cool. I buy them big so they breath well. The shade from the hoodie and my ball cap helps keep the sun burn off my neck and ears. My grandson likes to dip his in the bottle water ice chest and putting it back on. We also add Drip Drop to a bottled water early in the day to get a jump on the certain electrolyte loss that will take place due to the profuse sweeting that happens in the humid heat of the day.
Drip Drop is found at Walgreens or other drug stores. It’s an over the counter electrolyte supplement powder that works very fast.
Bon Temps!!
