    Default Not what I expected

With the warmer water I went with the expectation of shallow pre-spawn fish but that did not pan out. Instead I found them holding 30' deep. All winter I have caught them less than 30' but for whatever reason there they were.

Wow, that is surprising! I would have never thought they would be that deep. The only time I've caught them anywhere near that deep is at once at Dardanelle in the coal pits they were on the bottom at 65 feet. If you caught one you pretty much had to keep it because their stomachs would be pushed out into their mouths once you got them to the surface.

I caught a few fish yesterday in 25ft and marked a bunch of fish in 45ft, I may have to start fishing those deep ones and see what they might be.

Very interesting indeed. What was the water temp on the lake you were fishing?

D10 is Conway slab fish cakes your idea? If so I made a batch for supper tonight and it was awesome. My wife will usually only eat crappie if I cut it into fish sticks but she really liked the fish cakes. Thank you, I am tired of fish sticks.

It is! I’m glad y’all liked the recipe. My wife was tired of fried fish, so I saw a similar idea online and I decided to make something that tasted like crab cakes. I always eye balled the seasoning until I was forced to make some measurements for the AGFC 100th anniversary cook book. I’m not much of if chef but I do k ow how to cook breakfast, fish, and BBQ.

Post that recipe on here....? I make Fish Cakes from larger White Bass or Spotted Bass (very liberal limits here) and use a Crab Boil and sort of a makeshift Crab Cake recipe. If you cannot or do not want to I understand.
