    Default Redear and bluegill

Anyone been doing any good on either? Based on the weather forecast it looks like maybe by next week or so the water temp should be right. I haven't been able to get out there since the boat is out of commission for some mods, but I was hoping someone was getting into them.

My son and I ventured out today after the rain. We fished North Barkley for about four hours. We managed three redears and a couple of bluegills, along with several catfish and at least 15 yellow bass.

I caught these fish on a shallow flat on bottom using red worms. I think it's going to get better and better. I know a bank fisherman over here on Barkley that has caught a few monster redear on crappie jigs in the last week.

I guess I need to get my butt in gear and get the boat squared away. Last year I finally found some redear beds that I didn't see anyone else on and I can't wait to get back on them.

Very nice! I finally got a chance to talk to my neighbor about getting my trailer welded up so I can get the boat back on it. New impeller will be here Friday. Turkey hunting Saturday morning and family stuff Sunday. If the weather holds out I will be out there beginning of next week.

Did pretty good Saturday on the gills on Ky lake in four foot water. Fish weren't bedding, just hanging around some wood in the water. Got all except one from the same area.

Finally got the boat out today. Beautiful day to be on the water but the fish weren't exactly jumping in the boat with me. Ended up drifting and picking up a handful of small channel cat. The redear and bluegill don't seem to be anywhere near the beds. The water seems to have come up fairly quickly since there was a lot of golden rod under water. After searching for redear and bluegill for around 4 hours I pulled back up to the boat ramp and stopped to talk to an elderly couple. While I was standing there the old lady caught a nice redear...figures.

The bluegill and redear really should be no further away than you can chunk a small rock from the areas they are going to bed in. It can be a little bit of a needle in a haystack at times...so much water ....fish are in a very small percentage of that water.
