    If you are fishing from a boat, the extra length lets you drop the jig in the brush or lily pads without running the trolling motor right on top of them. This is especially important when fishing in shallow water.

    Damion I to like to bank or dock fish and find the longer pole lets you cast easier if you like a fixed bobber or you can cover more cover on shore or on a dock.

    You really want something for casting jigs. Find a good 7' UL or L with a fast tip that will let you cast the light weight jigs a good distance. When we get you hooked on kayak fishing you can pick up a 10' rod for dipping around the tree tops.
