My recommendation - get something about 6 feet with a very fast tip. I have a rod with fast tip that I spend my time watching the tip when I'm vertical jigging for that very faint tap - and the rest of the rod has the muscle for a quick set instead of having to put a lot of bend in the rod before the set is made. Just my thoughts - others may vary.

A lot of people use long rods like 9 or 10 foot for single pole jigging. What length are you looking for? I looked at Dicks online and they had all sorts of rods listed. I mostly use a 10' Shakespeare for jigging and spider rigging from my kayak but also use some 7' light and UL Shakespeare from Walmart for jigging.

A 10 ' B&M Bucks Crappie Jig Pole(BCJP) is very light and sensitive but will haul the biggest slab out of cover. Another excellent choice is Ed's Southern Crappie Rods. A 10' rod would be good choice.

b/m custom or Sam Heaton . I prefer 12 ft. rods but both of these come in a 10 ft. model .

I have a 12' BnM Sam Heaton model with rear seat. Nice balance!
