We did not know what to expect because non of us ever scalloped before. But after all was said and done, we had a riot. It was so cool to snorkel in the sea grass looking around at all the cool things we seen, coral, fish, turtles, rays.
And we finally even found scallops. Took a bit to figure out what we were looking for, took a bit to find fertile waters which had lots. I even had a couple two-fors. Dove down and picked up two at once.
Off in the morning.
Dino led the way on the Yabba Dabba Too!
Wifey in the background in the water. Jessica in front squinting.
The grasses were so cool to swim over the top of. Miles and miles of it.
Seen lots of Starfish.
Staghorn Coral, I think!
Who dat?
We ended up with 6 gallons, and had them shucked shoreside. Ended up with about 4 cups of scallops. Did not seem worth it, seems like there should be more meat off them, but it's not the meat that makes the day. It's the snorkelling that's the fun part.
I'm uploading video now. It was really neat watching the Dolphins in front of the boat on the ride home. I mean they were so close you could feel their tail fins hitting the bottom of the boat. You'll see.....

Used to do that out of a canoe back when I lived in FL. If you work real hard you can do scallops, crabs and shrimp all in the same day and eat it fresh for supper.
Old timer trick is to use a glass bottom in a bucket to see them and a long handled crab net to scoop them. The bucket and net is more efficient but not as fun.

Nice! Did ya save the shells and scraps to pitch off your wall to feed the bream? They love that stuff.
Neat video
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

Good to see the family enjoying Florida's water resources, neat video to boot!
crappie down !
This scalloping is all new to me. I had the time of my live out on the water trying a new adventure with SLAB, WIFEY and Jessica.
The Captain and mate (Jake and Rose??? ) on the YABBA DABBA TOO were a blast, very informative on our quest for our limit of scallops.
Need to practice up on snorkeling, as I find it to be fun, but at the same time intimating. Now I need another go at it.
I tried doing a underwater video, but all I got was a bobbing up and down. I was not successful in locating and harvesting any scallops, but it was the adventure.
Had the scallops for dinner on Friday, they were delicious. FRESH
We used to go out there (I lived north of Keaton Beach at a place called "Jug Island")
and fish, also dive down and get scollops and eat them right there raw = good stuff ......
