Talked to a man from Illinois at lake Washington a few years ago. He had a huge freezer next to his camper. Said he spent Feb thru May at the lake. Sold his fish back home for 7.50 per lb

Biggest crappie to date is 3 lb 9 oz at grenada in 1988. Still hangs on my wall.

I wonder if it would have been a harsher sentence on a non resident. Those guys basically got off with a slap on the wrist.. that burns me up!! I've heard of people getting worse than that for just keeping a few short fish to take home to eat.

I don't really consider $1000 fine and no fishing or hunting for a year and no COE fishing for two years to be a slap on the wrist especially since they weren't listed as repeat offenders. Maybe I read it wrong though...

I understand what you're saying but there also not gonna take your license away for two years for 7 shorts. I know if I was in their shoes I wouldn't be selling fish anymore. Could you imagine having to golf for two years?
But I figure you mean that the penalty should be stiffer to deter people from doing it in the first place.
The selling of game fish is far worse in my book. That brings in poachers into a whole different game.. if they are selling game fish they don't give a darn about keeping shorts. $975 is a kiss with a pillow... I would have them serving a year with $10, 000 in fines, don't care if you 80, should no better, how long this been going on? Problem with the system, to much catch and release with the wrong sort... just my two cents anyhow.

Yep, game violations don't carry enough weight period. I remember when it became law that you could use a scope on a muzzleloader. I can't shoot iron sights worth a crap and had always wanted a scope on the smoke pole. GW told me that the fine would have only been 25 bucks had I got caught, I would have paid it in a heart beat. Multible violations in a certain period should stop you from getting a license in another state as well, know of someone recently fishing in another state and has had mutable violations in MS in the last couple of years, why they still have a license is beyond me.
