Size: 87.9 KBAt Dale Saturday morning I caught big bluegill and big shell crackers til about 10:30 then they weren't there. No big ones Sunday or this morning. I was catching them in 8-10' of water Wednesday Thursday and Saturday. Last. 2 days I fished out to 20' with very little luck. The females still had eggs. Water temps I think is the culprit. 67 degrees and may have gotten to 71 by afternoon. This week may be good. Idk. All in all I had around 100 bluegills and around 30 shell crackers. The first fishing I've done since November.

I fished a lot of water today. No second set of beds out deeper from the ones I was seeing. I did a lot of scanning with si and di. Found tons of beds but no fish on them. Used di to scan water as deep as 25 feet out from the beds I was seeing. Marked no fish.....unlike 2-3 weeks ago was marking fish as if they were staging to move onto these beds. I could have missed the spawn up there but as much as I have been going I don't see how.

    Regards

I think they have been in a go - no go mood especially with females having eggs.

Spent 3 hours just looking this evening SI and no new beds and no fish. Really weird for this moon faze. I think most of them spawned the last moon the way it is looking. Hope I am wrong. Going to Blood river tomorrow and see. Been a weird year to say the least!! Getting tired of looking!!

Well....I am not going to say I know for sure whats going on. But I will tell you that I have caught a lot of bluegill and redear on the bed...on Kentucky Lake on Memorial weekend before. Not every year but quite a few years. I think the best one was around 2005 maybe ? My wife and I caught somewhere around 130 redear and 200 bluegill. We also caught around 30 crappie that were still on a bed. You can catch males even when the female is gone sometimes. I think nearly every fish we caught that weekend was a male.

    You just never know

I caught some crappie in Southern Illinois Saturday that still had eggs in them.

water temps maybe ? rarely do you see an entire lake " get through" with a spawn in one full moon period . Usually April, may and June and sometimes July . My bet would be weather, water temps , something besides spawn finished . Would like for TN . pond manager to chime in because we all see this from time to time .

I'm debating trying Reelfoot this weekend. Probably will be packed.
