Cool Happy fishing from haughton LA

Hello everybody, just joined the site recently. I'm from haughton LA. My main fishing involves live bait or some soft bait with a Zebco. Recently I purchased a telescopic cane pole to venture into a new way of fishin.
I would like any information from others on this fishing technique. I think that I will be jigging with it as I find it satisfying to trick a fish.
Also If anyone in the area ( haughton bossier shreveport ) could help me find some small holes I would appreciate it. Just moved here and all I really fish on is flag lake.

Cypress Lake and Black Bayou south of Benton are good. You need a boat sticker. $15.00 per yr plus $3.00 launch fee, or $75.00 per yr and no launch fee. Cross Lake in Shreveport is pretty good, especially for catfish. $20.00 die boat sticker. Lots of other good lakes close by. Bistineau, Claiborne, Caddo, Black Bayou at Hosston, Black Lake at Campti just to name a few. Good luck

Are you a member of the military? There are a few servicemen that fish Flag Lake and find it pays off. As stated above, there are many good fishing waters in that area but most require a boat. Ask around and get to talking fishing and you'll come up with some answers. Good luck and welcome to the forum.

Yes I'm a veteran and my father in law is retired. We fish with a boat. We fish flag and we have caught a good amount of shell crackers. I heard bisteneu is covered in some sort of Algae, is this true? Has anyone done any fishing in red chute bayou? I live right down the road from it and I would like to at least put some limb lines out. Thanks for the information.

You might want to try Ivan Lake sometime. It's about 25 miles from you in northern Bossier Parish off LA 160. I do fairly well there sometimes. I have been wanting to try Bodcau Bayou (becomes Red Chute Bayou further south) but it's so high right now I can't safely fish it.

I live in South Bossier and fish the Oxbows on Red River......when Mother Nature allows! The last couple of years, the flooding has not allowed us to fish much on the river, and we have been very successful fishing Grand Bayou Reservoir in Coushatta, both Crappie and Chinquapin Bream. We caught a bunch during the Bistineau draw down last winter in the northern end of the channel. You are also only a little over an hour drive to one of the best Crappie lakes in the world - D'arbonne in Farmerville. Good Luck!!
