Helped a tin boat out yesterday at greysport that sunk and helped a glass boat 10min later bouncing off the rocks out and ended up having a cracked hull. Stay off south greysport on an west wind 10-15 plus

I loaded this video up on youtube, but I never published it because I forgot to make it public instead of private.

The video doesn't do justice to the size of those rollers smashing into the Graysport bridge pilings. It went from conditions about like the first couple of seconds in the video to conditions like the last few seconds in the video in about 5 minutes. The first thing you see is chop...turning into wake... from "invisible" boats. The next thing you do is, if on the east side of Graysport & within sight of the bridge, is see white caps boiling around under the bridge. Sounds like the MS River at floodstage!

I went to Teckville yesterday from Engineers point. The wind wasn't blowing when I went up but by the time we came back it was at 18 by my weather app. It took me a long time to get back down the lake and I run a 240 SeaArk. I wouldn't have wanted to be in anything smaller and didn't want to be out there as it was. I would say anything over 10-12 is almost a no go. There were easy 3 foot rollers blowing up that lake. Be careful.

Thanks for all the info. I have been on Sardis in big winds and it just gets flat mean in a hurry! Driving 8 hours, I hate to lose time on the water because of wind, but safety first!!! Please, everyone pay attention to what the wind is doing.

Give a man a fish and feed him for a day.
Teach a man to fish and he'll sit in a boat and drink beer all day!

Problem on these lakes, if you are several miles from the landing, you are not gonna have time to get out in time. I've seen these lakes get treacherous in mere seconds, even on sunny days. You have to respect nature and have good judgement. When I was young and my dad and I fished, he would always drive to the landing nearest where we would be fishing, because we had a fairly small boat. I still remember that. Today, because of huge boats and motors, people take it for granted that they will be safe regardless of how far they motor. Nothing could be further from the truth.........Grenada, Sardis, and Enid don't care whether you have a 14 ft. boat with a 25 hp, or a 21 ft. boat with a 300 hp..............they will all be like toys when the wind gets up and you are miles from the landing. Believe me, it's a lonely and scary feeling! Everyone be safe wear your life jackets, and utilize the kill switch feature.
