    Default Lilly or Cain?

Has anyone fished Lilly or Cain slews lately...is the water up enough to fish? Got a new to me kayak and want to try it out. Hunting a good place to fish possibly out of the wind. Any recommendations? Where is Blackwell Swamp?

    Thanks

In a kayak it is never too low. May be too clear at times but not now.

Don`t know much about lilly or cain slough but Blackwell can be got to in two different ways one is to go to the mouth of Cotaco creek and go downstream and cross the river and look for the river marker on the north bank of the tennessee river blackwells swamp is behind that marker or you can go to county line road in madison and take it cross Swancott rd and travel about 1.5 miles to the road to the left that will take to the refuge road which will go completely around blackwell swamp have fished it quite a lot in my younger days and caught some nice bass and tore the crappie up several times on flyrod (believe it or not)

Thanks guys I have been out in Cain with my canoe when I did a lot of dragging getting out to the main body, but I did not know anything about Cain, followed some guys back out that were in a little boat and did not drag at all. Slabby I will have to ride over and check out Blackwell one day after work or possibly slip out a little early. I saw a video that another member on here posted that looked interesting. Never been fishing in a swamp.

While there are good numbers of Black Crappie in Blackwell, including some very large fish, I have found Blackwell very difficult to fish. There so much vegetation and very clear water your left with "how" to target the fish.

Yes, there's a couple of large gators in Blackwell also. I haven't found mama with any babies yet, short of that if you leave them alone they'll generally leave you alone also.
