    Default Water pump replacement problems.

Trying to install impeller on my 1988 60 hp Mariner. Name: 100_0042.jpg

Size: 45.4 KB When I dropped the lower unit the 2 inch piece of foam type pipe was on the top of the water pump. Obviously worn out so I ordered a new one and got this 2 3/4 inch piece of plastic. Question is where does it go and how do I install it? I thought it was a guide for the water pipe but really have no idea. Help!

There should be a water tube running from the top of the motor down to the water pump. The plastic sleeve slips down into the waterpump housing and the tube goes in the plastic sleeve.

The water pipe will not come out of the pump housing, should I force it out? And thanks for the reply.

Finally got it done. Once I forced the water pipe out of the pump it all fell in place.
