Some of you remember my prayer request's a couple months back for my friend Warren. He had a malignant tumor removed that was surrounding his pancreas and about a third of his stomach removed. He is doing chemo now and will do radiation next. But it is not all bad, he has his good days and is eating better to try and put back on some of the 20 lbs or so that he lost. Well through God's grace, a big prayer of mine was answered. He came to my house at noon yesterday and we headed to False River for a couple hours. I called this post wonderful and memorable because this little 2.5 hr trip will always be in my top memories of any fishing I have ever done. If y'all only knew what it meant to me to have my best fishing partner of the last 30 years back in the boat. I can not describe how wonderful it was. God truly blessed us both yesterday. I did not know if it would ever happen again. Thank you Father. Now on to the report and pic ,as I say a lot on C.c. We managed to catch 1 striped bass about 2 lbs. One bass 1/2 inch too short to keep(14 inch rule) and Warren caught a nice 17 inch bass. This lake used to be a jewel and it is making a little comeback. Hopefully it can become the red ear haven it was in the 80's. I don't remember it ever doing much on crappie, but there is another oxbow lake a few miles further that will be right when the Mississippi drops another 20 feet called Old River. He already requested a trip over there when the crappie turn on.

That's awesome Danny! I have an old fishing buddy that I have been trying to get back to fishing with also. Although neither of us have went through what the 2 of you have, we just kind of drifted apart. I fished the marsh last year that he and I used to fish religiously and it just didn't feel right without him with me out there so I kind of know how you feel. Thanks for the report and picture.

I'm happy for both of you "D" and will continue to keep your friend in my prayers. There is nothing like getting together with an old friend and if he is an old fishing buddy and you get to go fishing it's very extra special.
I have one such old friend who is suffering from an old spinal injury that has him almost unable to walk. I would love to get him back into the boat. He has had to sell his because his legs just give out sometimes and he has fallen overboard twice because of it. There would be no greater pleasure for me than to get to fish with him again. Maybe one day his miracle will happen.

Great day on the water. Happy you were able to get your bud back out again. Glad to hear there is hopes of a comeback on False river. Spent many days in that place. Remember shortly after moving to Florida there was a special ran on tv here about the FWC sending Florida strain Largemouth to False River and they predicted a World Record with all the food in that lake. Then I heard a few years later on here they nuked the weeds and ruined all hopes. We fished the barrow pits and sloughs in Morganza for Sacalait when I was there. Lots of em in em back then. We always struck out in the morning for Old River but never made it that far.
