Thread: Kiptail Tail Crappie Jigs

It's a nice tie but I'd add a small clump of hair over the bend of the hook. unless you're going for really sparse.

It's pretty thick, I think you're just seeing where it twisted around the shank.

Also I have no idea why all my pictures are coming in upside down when I use the attach feature.

that looks good, we use a crappie nibble on them and fish it under a small float.

as an aside, there are some tips for using this stuff too.. there are varying lengths of hair on a calftail usually and I use bypass pruning shears and a gate cutter meant for jigheads to cut the tails into pieces, they handle better that way. One tail will sometimes be used for several sizes of jigs. you done a heck of a job on your first one!

I was thinking you could mash a little of the nibbles into the body or tail. Never tried just hooking one.

I think what Fatman was saying is you need the hook covered on all sides with kiptail. I agree with what he said. You probably have enough, but maybe not spread around well enough? Sometimes you have to tie it on and the add another small bit to cover all around the hook.
