I hear that 'huntinslags', I think! Even with hearing aids some of my fishing buddies think I am ignoring their conversation when I don't respond or assume what they said and give a crazy response. Wind and motor noise gives me a fit especially when they are facing away from me and talking. But, it's doesn't stop us from enjoying each others company.....too much that is!

I have been hearing impaired since a very young child, had two diseases at the same time. Ran such a high temp, it burned the nerve endings. ( nerve damage)

NOT COMPLAINING! I am so fortunate, to be able to hear as good as I can with hearing aids. It is embarrassing sometimes, like when a fisherman yells something over to me, and I don't have a clue as to what he said! I just tell him I can't hear, hopefully he understands.

I have wireless headphones for watching TV, many of the movies now have captions, which is really great. This is why I love the computer, I have made many friends via the computer, can hear every word they say!

Maybe we can start a hard of hearing crappie club?

I SAID ! MAYBE WE CAN START A HARD OF HEARING CRAPPIE CLUB!!

Also thinking of getting some sandbags for the bow?? My recessed front seat sits quite a ways back, therefore allowing the bow to rise up out of the water, more than I would like.
I have a 48qt cooler that I used toput in the bow and fill just for a counterweight when i fished alone. Pull the plugs and let the extra weight run out. Kept a good sized scoop to fill it with. Worked great for me.

Now that is real good idea Skeet- if nothing else stop at one of the Penquin ice places
and put 40-50 lbs of ice in it- would serve several purposes.

    Hey Skeet,
Great idea, that could have worked for me with the original setup on my boat. When I positioned my new trolling motor, I had to downsize the cooler upfront!

Wave action is not the problem as much as the sail effect of wind on boat and body. These pits are not wide or long enough to get rough water.

If anything move rod holders to rear and deploy sea anchor, chains or buckets off bow eye and let the bow handle the waves as designed. Drifting slowly with wind. Just my $.02.

10-4, I just see these threads and others and hope people realize changing dynamics can result in bad happenings. Not worth it for a meal or entertainment. I picture the windy days on the big lakes with 1'-2' rollers and whitecaps and hogtying the low transom down.

    Hey Mike,

I appreciate your advice, not always fishing just the pits. Wanting to fish more of the lakes nearby, so could encounter rough waves someday. Always good to try and be prepared.
